During her summer vacation, Susan Avery (center of photo, facing camera), formerly the Director of the Cooperative Institutes for Research in Environmental Science, and currently the Vice Chancellor of Research took time to hike in to the Senator Beck Study Plot and the other CSAS study plots near Red Mountain Pass with local Mountain Studies Institute board members and staff. Susan is seen here with Dr. Jason Neff of the Neff Lab at CU (to Susan's immediate left, with back to camera), Robert Delves (the president of Mountain Studies Institute, to her far left), and Ellen Stein (to Susan's right). MSI director Jonathan Overpeck is seen in the foreground surveying the study plot, and Corey Lawrence in the distance, installing his lysimeters. Susan Avery has been a good friend to the CSAS, enabling us to hold our Fall 2005 Snow System Science workshop at CIRES, on the CU campus. |
