SBSG Tailrace Completed in September 2005

A period of very low flows in early September made it possible to divert water away from the unfinished center of the broad-crested weir's tailrace and Michael Barton completed the mortared rock work. The tailrace produces smooth, non-turbulent flow on the downstream side of the weir, preventing undercutting of the weir and 'pulling' water over the weir's crest.

Michael Barton admiring his work after normal flow through the weir was restored.
