Making a $60,000 upgrade to four remote snow study sites starting in late fall, particularly a cold and wet late fall, and into the winter depths of December and January, was a major and taxing challenge for the CSAS. We simply could not have done it without a number of enthusiastic and skilled helpers - Susan Hale, Michael Barton, Jeremy Yanko, Melissa Newell, Hal Hartman, our Swiss friends and snow science colleagues Christine Pielemeier and Julia Wessels, Aleph Johnston-Bloom, and our own Director, Chris George. We were also very fortunate to have machinist Frank Montonati's expertise and new shop right here in Silverton, just in time for our project.
